We build the rooms where stories get made and opportunity gets shared.

WestBone is a Minneapolis-based entertainment company creating film, theater, events, and community programming that brings people together across every part of the creative economy.

We empower creators to tell stories that connect their cities to the world.

Our Anchor

There's a moment, in every great story, when a person walks into a room and finds the people who can help them build what's next.

That moment is what WestBone exists to make possible.

Across our work, on stages and on sets, in rehearsal rooms and at industry conferences, in classrooms and on community blocks, we're building the rooms where opportunity, talent, and capital meet. Black-led, Minneapolis-rooted, and open to everyone serious about the work.

Find Your Opportunity.

Our Compass

WestBone is grounded in Black creative excellence — and built for everyone willing to do the work that makes culture move.

We believe storytelling is infrastructure.

We believe opportunity belongs in the hands of the people closest to the work.

We believe the next generation of American creativity will be built by people Hollywood hasn't met yet — and we're building the rooms where they get found.

Founded By

Leonard Searcy, Emmy Award-winning actor, director, and producer, founded WestBone in his hometown of Minneapolis. His work has been recognized at film festivals across the world, and he has served as a crisis consultant to organizations including the Minnesota National Guard and the FBI. A graduate of Dr. Josie R. Johnson’s Leadership Academy, Leonard is also co-owner of Black Tech Talent, a recipient of the 2021 MN Cup Impact Ventures Award, and the Tekne Award.

The mission of WestBone is bigger than any one person. It’s about the rooms we build together, and what becomes possible inside them.
